Lighting The Future Conference

Amazing opportunity this weekend for everyone who has signed up for  Lighting The Future Conference: children's and school librarians, writers, illustrators and publishers: to be enthused, to take a new direction, to enjoy new books, old friendships, continuing discovery.

I found a couple of interesting Blogs: Anabel's Blog is one: A new library world.

Cilip Youth Libraries Group  members can see lots of comments about new titles and special events such as: Winnie the Witch's 25th birthday this year on the YLG Blog!
For no good reason, I couldn't resist sharing this photo of Elmer and I.

Good luck with EveryThing all those who are setting out to do the  23 Things this year.

Librarian gene

My daughter has the Librarian gene:
for her DVDs that have been scattered around the house:
she has measured her room,
tracked down a suitable shelf unit,
put the unit together,
searched for and captured all her DVDs,
finally, she arranged them in ALPHABETICAL order on the shelf unit!
Wonder why my DVDs are just randomly shelved on the coffee table?

23 Things for professional development Thing 1

So, (apparently lots of Berkshire people start sentences with "So", so I thought I would!) here I am along with lots of other people at random hours of day and night, finding our feet in cpd23.
I have signed up as I became job-free on 31st March this year and would like to improve my communication skills and to learn more about how to get the best out of the media that are around.
I think of myself as a "reader not a writer", but obviously I've used that description too much and now I have to be creative and learn to express myself in writing. Hope my keyboard skills improve, otherwise I'll be here for hours and not get very far each time.
Am really looking forward to having time to think about what I can do, what the options are, and to engage with other people, even remotely, instead of learning on the run and not having time to take stock. It's been a very long time since I was on a long course of study. Hope the little grey cells are up to this challenge!
